Widespread flooding has wreaked havoc across Kenya, displacing over 130,000 people in 24,000 households, according to the government. This severe weather has forced the Ministry of Education to postpone the school reopening after the mid-term break.
More than 90 people were killed as homes, roads, and bridges were destroyed, with fears the death toll will rise further. A boat capsized in northern Garissa on Sunday night, leaving more than a dozen people missing. The Kenyan Red Cross managed to rescue 23 from the floodwaters.
